We awoke in a snowglobe this morning that looks like it's going to be sticking around for a while. But before you reach for your black puffer coat and Sorrells (OK, OK, we own them too - call it a Canadian winter staple), we urge you, for the sake of the long dark winter ahead of us, to reconsider your snow-day outerwear.
There's nothing more refreshing than seeing a bright pop of colour in a sea of black on a snowy day. Nature's white blanket is the perfect backdrop for it - why are we wasting it on black?!
Ok again, yes we love black too, of course, but we're asking you good people of Toronto; why should colour be reserved for the slopes, or Fashion Week, or your kid's outerwear?? Why was it abundant in the 60s, 70s and 80s, but not now?
Your coat is essential your winter-skin, so why have we all settled on such a dull one?
No one assigned you a black-coat uniform! You can wear as much colour, print, texture as you want!
So this year why not go all-out in colourful faux furs, brightly knitted accessories and eye catching dusters? A little leopard print never hurt anybody! Ditto for pink!
This year why not take a page from the book of 70s ski lodge Barbie and ditch the black parka in favour of some good old-fashioned neon! We're pretty sure you won't regret it. I mean, come on, how good does she look...
