Travel Diaries: The Drake Devonshire, Prince Edward County

A few weeks ago we spent a magical day in Prince Edward County checking out the new Drake Devonshire Hotel and a few local wineries. As expected The Drake team have killed it with their long awaited project; turning a historic building in Wellington Ontario into a country retreat for the urban hipster. Their "lakeside interpretation of the contemporary farmhouse" boasts all the modern-rustic design elements we've come to expect from the downtown Toronto mainstay, and no detail was overlooked. It was a dreamy escape from the city and we never wanted to leave.

Could the water BE any closer??

Nope.

We could almost taste the smores.

It was too cold to eat outside that day but we can only imagine this patio come next summer.

The Drake General Store section was small and well curated.

This wallpaper.

Games room!

All of the yes.

My shots of the dining room are deceiving. It was fully rammed when we got there, the photos were taken after the lunch rush. Reservations are recommended.

The tile game is on-point.

Lots of local County wines to choose from.

Our sweet ride.

All doors should be this exact shade of yellow.

Of course no trip to The County would be complete without hitting a few wineries.

Our first stop was Norman Hardie for some excellent Pinot Noir.

Mens be makin wines.

The colours were just beginning to turn.

These dogs had had one too many.

We may have overdone it on the oysters.

Next stop was Hinterland which specializes in sparkling wines and was definitely a favourite.

Hey there little buddies.

Their sparkling rose was top notch.

We miss you, big county skies.
