Valley Girl

I finally saw Midnight in Paris this past weekend (even better than expected) and it got me thinking about my own nostalgia-induced-time-travel-wish-I-had-lived-in-that-era destination.  At the moment it would definitely have to be (and it changes all the time) LA in the 1980s. I often think I would like to have been a teenager or in my early 20's in 1980s LA.

That way I could experience the following things:

Meeting a young Nic Cage at a totally rad 80s house party...

Hanging out at the mall with my gnarly girlfriends...

Sharing a soda-pop at a diner with a boy from the wrong side of town...

Attending an 80s LA prom with said bad boy...

Going to yet ANOTHER awesome house party in the hills with TV screens all over the walls...

Partying with a young RDJ.. (hmmm, on second thought this one could go either way...)

Driving around LA at night with Andrew McCarthy...

Possibly heading to the Beverly Hills Hotel for the night...

Doing every single thing in this awesome dating montage...

Skateboarding high over the city in my late 80s neon spandex...

Crusing the Sunset Strip with Randy Newman in his convertable...

And last but not least, attending (the fictional) West Beverly Hills High with these kids: (30 year olds)

Ok so I know technically the first season of Beverly Hills went to air in 1990, but it must have at least been conceptualized in the 80s, right? Hmmm, let me just consult Tori Spelling's autobiography...

  2. If that challenges younger kids’ attention span limit, let them wander away for a bit, then call them back when it’s done. They’ll love carrying the finished arbor to the garden and setting it in the ground. carmel valley homes for sale
